Broxtowe Liberal Democrats have selected Cllr David Watts as their parliamentary candidate for the next general election. Cllr Watts, a lecturer in law and management, was the candidate for the Lib-Dems in the 2001 and 2005 general elections, and has been one of the strategists behind the rise of the Lib-Dems locally.
Speaking to party members at the selection meeting Cllr Watts said:
"This is a time of unprecedented opportunity for us. People are disillusioned with politics in general and the Labour Party in particular. Broxtowe residents have shown that they want to vote Lib-Dem locally, and we now have to give them positive reasons to vote Lib-Dem in the general election as well.
